Students Win Awards for Writing and Research on China

Students supervised by UCI Long Institute faculty have recently received awards and scholarships.

Sarah Mellors, Ph.D. candidate in History, received a Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Award to support research in China on birth control before the one-child family policy.

Leksa Chmielewski Lee, Ph.D. candidate in Anthropology, was awarded the Society for East Asian Anthropology’s Bestor Prize for Outstanding Graduate Student Paper.

Update (December 2015):

Sarah Mellors, Ph.D. canditate in History, was chosen by the Hoover Institute to be a Silas Palmer Fellow for 2016.
