Graduate Student Project Grant 2018-19

March 16, 2018

The Long Institute is pleased to launch the Graduate Student Project Grant 2018-19, focused on supporting University of California, Irvine graduate students in their research on contemporary China.

As a multi-school institution, the Long Institute studies the social, economic, and legal development of Chinese state and society. The Institute calls for research applications that fall within the broader scope of this field of study. The grants support travel, data collection/analysis, fieldwork, or other costs directly related to ongoing research.  Support will be given for projects taking place from June 2018 to May 2019. We are awarding individual project grants out of a $10,000 pool, with a $1500 cap per project. We will consider proposals on the basis of factors that include, but are not limited to, project scope, originality, budget, and feasibility.

We are currently accepting applications through mid-May. We will grant support and the level thereof based on your project description and budget outline.

To qualify, applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program at UCI. Your program may fall outside of what is currently represented by the core faculty so long as your project demonstrates a sufficient level of inquiry into the social, political, economic, and/or legal development of contemporary China.
